  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. dates, chopped fine
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix margarine, sugar, egg yolk and nuts.

    Put baking soda over the dates; add boiling water.

    Add this to first mixture.

    Add flour, vanilla and beaten egg white.

    Bake in loaf pan for 1 hour at 350°.
