  • 1/2 lb. dates, chopped fine
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Pour boiling water over dates; add soda.

    Grease five #303 vegetable cans using 1 stick oleo.

    Add rest of oleo to dates and cool.

    Mix sugar and eggs; add flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla and nuts.

    Mix well with the mixture.

    Fill cans 1/2 full.

    Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
