Date Nut Cake

  • 1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 qt. nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Dredge nuts and dates with small amount of flour.

    Set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, beating well.

    Combine dry ingredients.

    Add to creamed mixture.

    Pour batter into nuts and dates mixture and stir to mix.

    (You may have to use your hands.) Pour into greased tube pan and bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

    Let cool a few minutes before removing from pan.
