- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. dates
- Cool Whip
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.

2Cut in shortening until like coarse meal.

3Make a well and add milk and egg.

4Mix until dampened.

5Add nuts and dates.

6Let stand 20 minutes before baking (in 9 x 5-inch pan).

7When cool, cut in small chunks.

8Put in a bowl and mix with Cool Whip, lightly.
