- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 Tbsp. oleo
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. or more nuts
Directions

1Pour boiling water over dates; let stand.

2Cream oleo, sugar and egg.

3Add water and dates to creamed mixture.

4Add flour sifted with soda and salt, vanilla and nuts.

5Pour into bread loaf pan.

6Bake at 350° for about 1 hour.

7Wrap in foil 1 day before slicing.
