   Cream shortening and brown sugar.

   Add eggs, then mix in dry ingredients.

   Divide dough into 4 parts.

   Roll each part into a long rectangle.

   Spread with date filling.

   Roll from the long side.

   Cover and chill.

   Then slice and bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes.
