- 8 cooking apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 3/4 to 1 c. sugar (amount depends on sweetness of apples)
- 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 (9-inch) pastry to top pie (recipe follows)
Directions

1Arrange apple slices in a lightly greased 9-inch square baking dish.

2Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Sprinkle over apples and dot with butter.

3Top with pastry and bake at 400° for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 6 to 8.
