- 2 ready-made, deep dish pie shells
- 4 (16 oz.) cans tart cherries in water
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. almond extract
Directions

1Drain cherries; reserve 1 1/2 cups of juice and put cherries aside.

2Combine cherry juice, 2/3 cup of sugar and cornstarch in a large saucepan.

3Stir and cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly.

4Gently stir in cherries, cinnamon and almond extract. Place one pie crust in pan and crease the edges.

5Pour in cherry mixture.

6Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

7Place foil on edges of crust.

8Reduce heat to 375°.

9Add top crust.

10Cut out hearts on top layer.

11Bake for 25 to 30 minutes more.
