- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup cornstarch
- 1 None large egg
- 1 1/2 cups dried breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh oregano leaves
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 18 oz fontina cheese, cut into 2/3 x 1 1/2 inch chunks
- None None vegetable oil, for deep-frying
Directions

1Combine flour and cornstarch in a medium bowl. Gradually stir in egg and 3/4 cup water until smooth. Combine breadcrumbs, herbs and cayenne in another medium bowl.

2Dip cheese in batter then in breadcrumb mixture. Repeat process to double-coat each piece.

3Heat oil in a wok to 350°F. Working in batches, deep-fry cheese until lightly browned. Drain on paper towels.
