- water
- 1 c. salt
- 1 gal. cucumbers
- 2 Tbsp. alum
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spices
- 3 c. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve salt in 11 cups water.

2Pour over cucumbers (size that will slice).

3Let stand in cool place 2 weeks (keeping covered and skimmed).

4After 2 weeks, wash off the brine and slice lengthwise, then cover with water and alum.

5Let stand 3 hours and drain. Next, pour vinegar to cover.

6Add pickling spices.

7Let stand 24 hours.

8Drain; discard solution.

9Add 3 cups sugar 3 mornings straight, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar (this makes the syrup).

10Put in gallon jugs or jars.

11(Don't need to seal.)
