Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. scalded milk
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 6 to 7 c. flour (can substitute whole wheat for part of flour)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 small pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 c. lukewarm water (use 2 c. container)
  • 4 eggs, beaten

    Soften yeast in water.

    Add a sprinkle of sugar to help yeast act faster and stir.

    Put shortening, sugar and milk in a pan and warm.

    Watch that it doesn't scorch.

    Cool.

    Add yeast mixture and stir.

    Add eggs and mix.

    Add flour and salt.

    Mix gradually and let rise double.

    Work dough good.

    Make into rolls and let rise. Bake at 375° until golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.
