  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sour milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs, unbeaten

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, soda, cream of tartar and salt into mixing bowl.

    Drop in shortening and add 2/3 of milk, then vanilla and beat.

    Add eggs and beat.

    Add the remaining 1/3 of milk and beat.

    Bake at 350°.
