  • 1/4 cup butter
  • shortening
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 2 tbsp. liquid sweetener
  • 2 tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs, beaten,

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 cup nuts, chopped

    Sift cocoa, flour, salt and baking soda and mix well.

    Add vanilla, sweetener, eggs.

    Stir until well-blended and add the dry ingredients.

    Mix until well-blended, stir in chopped nuts, pour into a greased 8-inch square pan.

    Level batter smoothly.
