Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 c. creamed cottage cheese, heated to lukewarm
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. minced onion
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 tsp. dill seed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 egg (unbeaten)
  • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 c. Pillsbury's Best all-purpose flour

Directions

    Soften yeast in water, combine in mixing bowl the cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seeds, salt, soda and egg to soften yeast.

    Add flour to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition.

    Cover and let rise in warm place, 85° or 90°, until light and double in size 50 or 60 minutes.

    Stir down dough into well greased sheets.

    Make buns.

    I use a large empty peach can for rounds.

    Let buns rise and bake in 350° oven about 25 or 30 minutes.

    Brush hot buns with soft butter and sprinkle with salt.
