- 1 peck cucumbers (small)
- 3 pt. vinegar
- 1 1/2 c. salt
- 4 1/2 qt. boiling water
- 9 Tbsp. dill seed or dill weed (fresh)
- 9 pieces fresh garlic
- 1 to 2 hot pepper pods
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. powdered alum
Directions

1Put boiling water, vinegar and salt into a large pot.

2Bring back to a rolling boil.

3Remove from heat.

4Put cucumbers in pot and let stand for 5 minutes.

5Remove cucumbers with a drip spoon. Pack cucumbers in 9-quart jars.

6To the jars add the dill seed, garlic, 1/4 red hot pepper and alum.

7Reheat liquid and then pour over cucumbers and seal jars.
