- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 1/4 c. sugar plus 2 Tbsp.
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. flour
- butter, melted
Directions

1In medium mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and add 2 tablespoons sugar.

2Stir in 1/4 cup sugar, salt, egg, shortening and approximately 1/2 of the flour.

3Beat with spoon until smooth. Mix in enough flour to make dough easy to handle.

4Turn dough onto floured board and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Let rise in greased bowl, covered until doubled.

5Punch down.

6Let rise again until doubled.

7Shape into rolls; brush with melted butter and cover.

8Let rise 30 minutes.

9Bake 12 minutes at 400° until golden brown.

10Remove from oven and brush with butter.
