   In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Cook over heat to boiling (260° on thermometer).

   Remove from heat.

   Immediately beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually pour mixture in a thin stream over egg whites, beating at high speed about 3 minutes.

   Add vanilla and beat until candy starts to lose its gloss.

   Add nuts and cherries.

   Quickly drop in spoonfuls or line pan.
