- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- dash of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cook sugar, syrup and water over low heat, stirring only until sugar is dissolved.

2Then boil rapidly, without stirring, to 242° or until syrup forms a firm boil when dropped into cold water. Add cream of tartar, salt and vanilla to egg whites.

3Beat until stiff, but not dry.

4Pour syrup in a thin stream into beaten egg whites, beating constantly.

5Continue beating until frosting will stand in peaks and is of consistency to spread.

6Enough frosting for filling, top and sides of 3 layer cake.
