- 3 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Place sugar, syrup and water in pan over medium heat.

2Stir only until sugar is dissolved, then cook until a little tried in cold water forms soft ball or 236°.

3Beat egg whites 2 minutes at high speed until stiff; continue beating and pour 1/2 of syrup over beaten egg whites.

4Continue beating while cooking rest of syrup until it forms hard ball or 264°.

5Add this syrup gradually to syrup and egg mixture you have been beating.

6Add vanilla and continue beating until candy is thick enough to drop from spoon. Place on buttered platter.

7Chopped nuts may be added just before candy is ready to spoon.
