- 3 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
- 2 well-beaten egg whites
- nuts (black walnuts are great)
- vanilla flavoring
Directions

1Combine first 3 ingredients in a heavy pan.

2Put on stove; stir until clear.

3Cook to 225° or just before soft ball stage. Put 1/3 cup into egg whites, slowly.

4Cook remainder until soft ball stage.

5Pour 1/3 into egg whites.

6Put remainder on stove and cook until soft crack stage.

7Add quickly to egg whites and beat until it begins to lose its shine.

8Add nuts and vanilla flavoring.

9Spoon onto wax paper and let set until firm.
