- 1 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 3/4 c. baking cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Frosting
Directions

1Cream butter, shortening and sugar in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in bowl.

4Add to creamed mixture alternately with mixture of milk and vanilla, beating well after each addition.

5Pour into well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

6Bake at 300° for 1 1/4 hours.

7Cool in pan for several minutes.

8Invert onto serving plate.

9Spread frosting over cake.
