- 2 c. plain mashed potatoes
- 1 c. white sugar (scant)
- 1 c. lard
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 cakes yeast
- 3 or 4 c. flour
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 8 c. flour or a little more
Directions

1Let the first 4 ingredients cool.

2Add the next 3 ingredients to first cooled mixture.

3When yeast is dissolved, add 3 or 4 cups flour.

4Cover; set aside 1/2 hour.

5Add remaining ingredients.

6Let rise until double in size.
-
7Cut out; let rise again.

8Fry in hot lard.
