Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean chopped beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 4 cans pork and beans (discard pork fat or use vegetarian beans)
  • 1 can dark red kidney beans
  • 1 can light red kidney beans
  • 4 strips bacon

Directions

    Use a large Dutch oven or large frying pan.

    Brown the beef with the diced onion until meat is no longer pink.

    Spill off all the drippings.

    Add the beans, ketchup, mustard and brown sugar and simmer for about 1/2 hour.

    Cook the bacon until crispy; drain on absorbent paper, then crumble into beans.

    Stir; simmer another few minutes and serve.
