- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. fine grated cheese, divided
- 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2In large bowl mix together flour, baking powder and half of cheese.

3Add shortening and butter, cut into flour mixture with pastry blender or 2 knives until it resembles coarse meal.

4Make a well in center, pour in milk and mix with fork until dough forms a ball.

5On lightly floured board knead dough 15 times until smooth.

6Roll 1/2-inch thick, cut with cookie cutter or glass.

7Bake on cookie sheet for 10 minutes, remove and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

8Bake 2 to 3 minutes longer or until cheese melts.
