Ingredients
- 6 ounces dried pear halves
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions

1Cover dried pears with 2 c.

2hot water and let soak 30 minutes.

3Drain pears and snip into small pieces.

4Sift dry ingredients together (except sugar).

5Combine in another bowl sugar, butter, egg, 1/4 c.

6water and orange juice.

7Mix well; add dry ingredients.

8Stir in pears and pecans.

9Pour mixture into a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, which has been lightly greased and floured.

10Bake at 350F for 55-60 minutes.

11Cool 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pan and cool completely on rack.

12Makes 1 loaf.
