- 1 c. butter, softened
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans (optional)
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar, beating well at medium speed of electric mixer; add eggs, beating well.

2Combine flour, baking powder, soda and nutmeg.

3Add to mixture alternating with buttermilk, mixing well.

4Stir in vanilla.

5Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.

6Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown.

7Remove to racks to cool.
