  • 1/2 cup butter
  • margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup apple, chopped and peeled
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • margarine

    In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

    Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Combine flour, baking soda and salt.

    Stir into the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

    Fold in apple and nuts.

    Pour into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

    Topping: Combine the first four ingredients; cut in butter until crumbly.

    Sprinkle over batter.
