- 2 lb. lean beef stew meat (1-inch pieces)
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 2 c. water
- 6 onions, cut into chunks (1-inch pieces)
- 6 carrots, cut into chunks (1-inch pieces)
- 6 potatoes, cut into chunks (1-inch pieces)
Directions

1Roll meat in flour and brown in margarine.

2Add tomato sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, bay leaf, and water.

3Simmer 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender.

4Add onions, carrots and potatoes.

5May also add peas.

6Cook 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
