Ingredients

  • 2 cakes yeast (Fleischmann's active dry)
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. melted shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 c. sifted flour (no more)

Directions

    Add yeast to warm water.

    Let stand 5 minutes. Meanwhile, mix 2 cups warm water, 1/2 cup sugar, melted shortening and salt.

    Add the yeast.

    Add gradually the flour. Beat well.

    Put on floured board and knead for 5 minutes.

    Let rise until double.

    Roll into buns and place on greased pan.

    Bake at 375° for 15 minutes. Butter tops.
