- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
Directions

1In a 2-quart saucepan, stir together the sugar, corn syrup, water and salt.

2Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil.

3Reduce heat.

4Cook without stirring until temperature reaches 265° on a candy thermometer or until a small amount of syrup dropped into very cold water forms a ball that is hard enough to hold shape, yet plastic.
