Easy French Bread

Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 4 c. warm water
- 6 to 8 c. flour
- 1/4 c. yellow corn meal
- 1 egg white, mixed with 1/4 c. water (whipped)
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Mix yeast, water, salt and sugar.

3Add 5 cups flour, mix with mixer on low speed for 5 minutes.

4Add enough flour to make dough elastic, flour board, fold out on board and knead for 5 minutes.

5Grease large bowl, place dough in and cover.

6Set in warm place until dough doubles in size, about 1 hour.

7Fold out on floured board and knead again 2 minutes. Place back in bowl to rise again.

8Let rise 10 minutes. Gently put back on board and divide into 2 parts.

9Place one back in bowl.

10Leave one on board.

11Let stand (covered 10 minutes).

12One at a time gently roll out 8 x 10-inch and hand roll up into loaf.

13Grease pans (2) and sprinkle with corn meal.

14Place loaf in pan.

15Repeat for second loaf.

16Slice crosswise (4 to 6 slices) 1/2 inch deep. Brush with egg white mixture.

17Bake 20 minutes and brush with egg whites again.

18Bake 20 minutes or until done.
