Easy Italian Crust Pizza

  • flour or cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef or bulk sausage
  • 1 c all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning or oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c chopped onion
  • 1 4 oz can mushrooms
  • 1 8 oz tomato or pizza sauce
  • 1-2 tsp oregano (dried) leaves
  • 4 oz (1 c) mozzarella cheese

    Heat oven to 425°.

    Lightly grease 12-inch pizza pan; Sprinkle with flour.

    In a large skillet lightly brown ground beef; drain. In a small bowl, combine 1 c flour, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, milk and eggs; blend until smooth.

    Pour batter into greased pan, tilting pan so batter covers bottom.

    Spoon beef over batter, top with onions and mushrooms.

    Bake at 425° for 25-30 min. on the lowest oven rack.

    In a small bowl, combine tomato sauce and oregano; spoon over pizza.

    Sprinkle with cheese; bake an additional 10-15 min.
