- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
Directions

1Melt the butter in a saucepan.

2Stir in the rice until it is coated in the butter.

3Add the spices and salt.

4Add the boiling water.

5Cover with a tight fitting lid, and simmer on the lowest heat for 15 minutes--do not stir in the meantime.
