  • 1 lb. beef cubed steaks, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • margarine
  • 1 can (1-3/4 lb.) whole tomatoes
  • 1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed beef consumme
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup regular barley
  • 1/4 cup frozen chopped onion
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen baby lima beans, broken apart
  • 1 pkg. (9 oz.) frozen Italian
  • French style green
  • Beans, broken apart
  • 1 can (15 oz.) butter beans, drained
  • 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese

Directions

    Brown cubed steak pieces in butter in Dutch oven over medium hat.

    Stir in tomatoes, with their liquid, consumme, water, barley, onion, salt, marjoram and thyme.

    heat to boiling, reduce heat.
