  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. melted shortening
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water in large bowl.

    Add remaining ingredients in order given, mixing well.

    Roll on floured surface and cut with biscuit cutter.

    Bake in greased pan at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
