- 2 cups flour, all-purpose sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 13 cup vegetable shortening
- 13 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F (180C).

2Grease and flour a 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

3Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together into mixing bowl.

4Add remaining ingredients to flour mixture.

5Beat with electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.

6Turn mixer to high speed and beat for 3 minutes, scraping bowl often.

7Pour batter into prepared pan.

8Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake begins to pull away from sides of pan and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

9Cool in pan on wire rack and serve as desired.
