- 1 lb. ground beef, turkey or chicken
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 small tomato, chopped
- green pepper (optional)
- seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tsp. sugar
- dash of vinegar
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese
- 2 lb. box ziti noodles
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce
Directions

1Saute diced onions, tomatoes and green peppers in a lightly greased skillet.

2Add a little water to prevent burning.

3Add ground meat, seasonings, sugar and vinegar.

4When meat is cooked, add spaghetti sauce and simmer until mixture thickens over a low heat.

5(You may want to increase seasoning depending on the taste.) While meat is cooking, cook ziti noodles (follow directions on box).

6Grate the Mozzarella cheese.

7Preheat oven at 325°.

8In an 8 x 11-inch casserole dish place a layer of meat sauce, top with a layer of ziti, follow with a layer of grated Mozzarella cheese. Continue the layers, ending with meat sauce.

9Cover with foil and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until cheese is cooked and bubbly.

10Uncover and let brown for about 5 minutes.

11Your ziti is ready.
