- 1 1/2 lb. ground lean beef
- 28 oz. can Italian tomatoes (juice reserved)
- 1/4 c. tomato paste, divided
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt (if desired)
- 2 or 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 medium eggplants (unpeeled)
- a little oil for rubbing
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Mix ground meat with 1/2 cup of the juice from the tomatoes and 2 teaspoons of the tomato paste.

3Add onion, green pepper, allspice, pepper, salt and garlic.

4Mix well and set aside.
