Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 lb. ham (16 slices)
  • 16 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese slices
  • 3 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 16 slices very thin bread
  • Bacon Thins (crackers)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

    Butter a 3-quart Pyrex dish.

    Remove crust and butter both sides of 8 slices very thin bread.

    Layer 8 slices ham, then 8 slices cheese.

    Repeat with same second layer.

    Then beat eggs, milk, salt and dry mustard.

    Pour over casserole.

    Refrigerate 24 hours (or freeze for several weeks).

    One hour before cooking, saute 1 cup crushed Bacon Thins in 1 stick butter.

    Sprinkle over top of egg dish.

    Bake 1 hour at 350°.

    Let cool 15 minutes before serving.
