  • 1 c. shortening
  • 14 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. coarsely cut nuts
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

    Melt shortening.

    Beat eggs until light.

    Add sugar, then shortening and blend.

    Add flour, cocoa, vanilla and nuts.

    Mix well.

    Pour batter into waxed paper-lined 9 x 13-inch oblong cake pan.

    Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 30 to 35 minutes.
