  • 1 large elephant
  • brown gravy
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 25 bushels mushrooms (fresh)
  • 6 1/2 bushels American onions, cut in squares
  • 17 bushels celery, diced
  • 2 rabbits (optional)
  • 7 1/2 gal. whale oil

Directions

    Cut elephant into bite size pieces.

    This should take about 2 months.

    Add brown gravy and simmer.

    Add salt and pepper to taste.

    Heat whale oil to brown mushrooms, celery and onions.

    Mix all ingredients and cook over kerosene fire for 4 weeks at 465°. Yield:

    3,800 or more servings.

    If more guests are expected, 2 rabbits may be added, but do this only if necessary, as most people do not like to find hare in their stew.
