Ingredients
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 1/4 c. lard or shortening
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- oil or shortening for frying
- confectioners sugar (optional)
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water; set aside.

2Cut shortening into dry ingredients.

3Combine all ingredients and mix well.

4Knead until dough is satiny and smooth.

5Do not let rise.

6Roll dough out 1/4 to 1/8-inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter or large round cookie cutter.

7Place filling in center of dough; fold dough in half and seal edge with fork tines or by pinching to give ruffled effect and fry in hot fat until golden brown.

8Sprinkle with confectioners sugar, if desired, when cool.

9Makes 2 dozen little pies.
