Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 35 whole allspice
  • 4 medium or 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1 toe garlic or 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce *
  • 1/4 c. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. red pepper
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 qt. water

Directions

    Brown meat in a large, heavy pan.

    Combine bay leaves and allspice in a bag or piece of clean cheesecloth.

    Add with remaining ingredients to meat.

    Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

    Reduce heat.

    Cover and simmer over medium heat for 3 hours.
