Escalloped Cabbage

  • 1 head cabbage, chopped coarsely
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. butter or oleo, divided
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 jar cheese - bacon flavor
  • 1 jar sharp cheddar cheese
  • 25 saltine or Ritz crackers

    Chop cabbage and cook in a small amount of water until almost done.

    Drain and sprinkle with sugar.

    Set aside.

    Melt 2 Tbsp butter and add the flour and milk to make a white sauce.

    In a separate pan melt the rest of the butter and stir into the cracker crumbs.

    Put cabbage in baking dish, pour white sauce over it. Put the crumbs on top.

    Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 min.
