- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. flour
- dash of salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 6 c. thinly sliced tart apples (6 medium)
Directions

1Heat oven to 425°.

2Prepare pastry.

3Mix remaining ingredients, except apples and margarine.

4Stir in apples.

5Turn into pastry lined pie plate.

6Dot with margarine.

7Place top crust, that has slits cut in it, over the filling, unfold and trim overhanging edge of pastry 1-inch from rim of plate.

8Fold and roll top edge under lower edge.

9Cover with 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.

10Remove foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

11Bake 40 to 50 minutes, until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.
