- 1 gal. cucumbers, cut crosswise
- 4 Tbsp. alum
- 2 Tbsp. plain salt
- 2 Tbsp. pickle spices
- 5 lb. sugar
- vinegar
Directions

1Put cucumbers in a gallon jar.

2Fill jar with vinegar, salt, alum and spices.

3Leave for 8 weeks.

4After 8 weeks, drain well; pour off vinegar and spices.

5Add 5 pounds sugar to pickles. Sugar will dissolve and make syrup.

6Refrigeration is not necessary.

7Do not need to seal.
