Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. white vinegar
  • 1 c. chopped figs
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice

    Spray loaf pan with Pam.

    Cream margarine until fluffy.

    Beat in brown sugar and egg.

    Stir in milk and vinegar.

    Add sifted dry ingredients gradually until well blended.

    Add nuts and chopped figs.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour to 1 1/4 hours, until firm in center.

    Cool; remove from pan.

    Slice real thin and serve with butter or whipped cream cheese.
