  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 c. Wesson oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. fig preserves, cut up
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

    Sift together first 7 ingredients.

    Add oil, mix well.

    Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.

    Add buttermilk and vanilla.

    Add cut up fig preserves and nuts.

    Mix well.

    Bake in tube pan on 325° for 1 hour (more if needed).
