- 1/4 lb fig, chopped
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 orange, rind of, grated
Directions

1Cook figs until tender, about 30 minutes.

2Combine sugar and cornstarch in the top of double boiler.

3Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly.

4Cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5Add figs, lemon juice, and orange rind.

6Let cool to room temperature before assembling cake.
