- 6 c. flour
- 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. sugar (granulated)
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift together flour and baking powder.

2Mix sugar and shortening together.

3Beat eggs, milk and vanilla; add to creamed mixture.

4Knead dough until very smooth, about 15 minutes.

5Cut dough into 10 pieces.

6Roll each piece out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into strips, about 4-inches wide.

7Fill with Fig Filling. Roll up and then cut into any design.

8Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 300° to 325°; they will turn light brown.

9Spread on Icing, if desired.

10Makes 6 dozen.
